Opal Moore Russo

Spartanburg, SC- Opal Moore Russo, 86, wife of the late Nicolas Russo, died Monday, November 30, 2015. Born April 25, 1929 in Caroleen, NC, Opal was a daughter of the late George B. and Daisy Lee Green Moore. She attended Cecil Business College and was associated with Roger Goodwin and his many restaurants in the Spartanburg area. Opal was a dietician and retired from the Spartanburg County Jail. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Opal is survived by her daughter, Ruth R. Hill (Clody) of Spartanburg, SC; her son, Michael “Buzzy” Russo (Grace) of Greer, SC; step-son, Robert Russo (Peggy) of Boiling Springs, SC; step-daughter, Joanne R. Jackson (Bobby) of Spartanburg, SC; many grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Moore (Eleanor) of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, Joy Higgins of Anchorage, AL; and a dear friend, Virginia Humpheville. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a step-son, Nick Russo; a brother, Jerry Moore; and a sister, Gwen Cash. The family will receive friends Friday, December 4th, 2:00-2:45PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3PM in the sanctuary, officiated by Reverend Jim Oliver.
