Pauline, SC- Helen Setzer Royals, 90, wife of Charles Edwin Royals, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016.
Born May 25, 1925 in Newton, NC, Helen was a daughter of the late William Lester and Eva Margaret Blalock Setzer. She was a graduate of Newton High School where she was a great asset to the basketball team as a starter, winning 4 championships. After high school, Helen graciously declined a scholarship from Lenoir-Rhyne University and moved to Spartanburg. She was employed for 43 years with Kosch & Gray Jewelers.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Royals Coward (Roy) of Pauline, SC; grandchildren, Pamela B. Roberts of Roebuck, SC and Kimberly B. Sutherland (Steve) of Spartanburg, SC; great grandchildren, Brooks Gibson, Ashton Twitty (Josh), and Jacob Sutherland; great-great granddaughter, Stephanie Twitty; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by 10 siblings.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 25th, 2:00PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Richard Thomas.
