Spartanburg, SC- On Saturday, February 20, 2016, Howard Earl Strickland, Jr. took his last breath on Earth and his first in Heaven.
Born June 25, 1949 in Spartanburg, SC, Howard was a son of the late Howard Earl Strickland, Sr. and Frances Lancaster Strickland. He was a graduate of Dorman High School class of ’67. Howard honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was a meat cutter at local BiLo stores for the last thirty years. Howard was a member of Westside Baptist Church, and a former deacon at Arkwright Baptist Church. He was an avid fisher and a founding member of Roebuck Bass Club.
Howard was the loving husband of Diane Gossett Strickland, and the father of Scott (Sherry), Jonathan (Margaret), and Chris (Ali) Strickland. He was the blessed grandfather of Haley, Tyler, Rachel, Emma Cate, and Charlie Ann Strickland. He was the brother of Sandra (Mike) Link, Curtis (Merle), Michael (Carla), and CL (Ellen) Strickland. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Doris Byrd and Earlene Boheler.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23rd, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will held Wednesday, February 24th, 1 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Eddie Burris, Rev. James Blackwood, and Rev. Sal Barone.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
