Rupert Earl Melton, Sr.

Rupert Earl Melton, Sr. Moore – Rupert Earl Melton, 75, husband of Mary Lynn Bell Melton, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Earl was born on September 16, 1940 to the late Hicks and Alva Hughston Melton. He faithfully served his country in the US Army, retired from Spartanburg County, was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and loved playing, coaching, and officiating youth sports. In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by a son, Rupert Earl Melton Jr. (Jackie) of Salem, NJ; daughters, Rhonda Faulkner (Warren) of Concord, NC, Amber Scruggs (Craig) of Spartanburg; a brother, Jimmy Melton (Kathy) of Moore; sisters, Gail Johnson of Moore, and Judy Steading (Johnny) of Pauline. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Earl was predeceased by two brothers, David and Larry Melton. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM in the church sanctuary.
