Thurza Rachel Tinsley

Spartanburg, SC- Thurza Rachel Tinsley, 94, died Saturday, March 5, 2016. Born July 14, 1921 in Spartanburg, SC, Rachel was the only child of the late Sir Peyton and Susan Bishop Tinsley. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1938, Converse College, and Columbia University of New York. Rachel was the Office Manager for the National Beta Club for 56 years. She was a member of River Hills Baptist Church. Rachel is survived by her cousin, Lee Blackwell and his wife, Marie, and their sons, Darryl & Michael Blackwell, and a host of cousins and extended family members. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Bridget, Tammy, Jannie, Queen, and Mamie with Integry Caregivers for the love and care they showed Ms. Tinsley. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 9th, 11AM in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Hills Baptist Church, 5762 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369 or to the charity of one’s choice.
