Betty P. Holcombe Spartanburg, SC- Betty Jane Pierce Holcombe, 80, wife of the late Charles Wesley Holcombe, died Saturday, March 12, 2016. Born March 11, 1936 in Spartanburg, SC, Betty was a daughter of the late Elbert Lester and Eunice Wood Pierce. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1954, and retired from Milliken Company after 43 years of service. Betty was a life-long member of Glendale Baptist Church where she was a leader in Girls in Action, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Young at Heart, and an active participant of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was also a long time member of the Red Hat Society, Chapter #31686. Betty is survived by her son, Robert E. “Bobby” Holcombe, and his wife, Marlene, of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, C. J. and his fiancé, Haley Wofford, and Chris Holcombe; and two God children, Aaron Hodge (Windy) and Angel Rochester (Brady). In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by a brother, James E. Pierce; and three sisters, Carrie P. Addis, Ella Ruth Bradley, and Mary P. Bennett. The family will receive friends Monday, March 14th, 7-9PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15th, 3PM at Glendale Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Daniel Blackwell and Reverend James Fanning. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
