Spartanburg, SC- Joseph Ocran Beasley, Jr., MD, 84, husband of Doris Hunt Beasley, died Monday, March 28, 2016.
Born July 28, 1931 in Savannah, GA, Joe was a son of the late Joseph Ocran and Martha Russell Beasley. He was a graduate of the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina. Joe practiced ophthalmology for over 35 years in Spartanburg. He was a sports enthusiast. The Masters was a special time, as he attended for 45 years. Joe was an avid reader and enjoyed reciting poetry with his grandchildren. Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, attending conferences at the Kanuga Conference Center, and delivering Mobile Meals with two friends. Joe was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Doris, Joe is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Beasley Richardson (William), Bridget Beasley Wolfe (E. Fort Wolfe, Jr.), and Joann Beasley Aucoin (Geoffrey); step daughter, Kay Fincannon Cook (Walter); grandchildren, Shane Nix, Leah Wynn, Will Richardson, Emerson Wolfe, Marion Wolfe, Claire Aucoin, Kirby Noone, Alice Cook; ten great grandchildren; and three nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Russell Beasley.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 3rd, 2:00PM at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, officiated by Reverend Jim Trimble and Deacon Fergie Horvath.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall.
