Spartanburg, SC- Dorothy (Dolly) Felo Darr, 88, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016.
Born June 27, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio, Dolly was the daughter of the late Edith Freeman Felo and granddaughter of the late Joseph and Emma Freeman. In 1949, she married Kenneth E. (Dusty) Darr, who predeceased her in 1995.
While attending Ohio University, Dolly met her future husband and was chosen as Sweetheart of Sigma Chi and then embarked on a life-long career as a writer, writing for the Dayton Journal Herald, the Spartanburg Herald Journal, Sandlapper Magazine, Converse College Alumni Magazine and numerous other publications.
Dolly was a long-time resident of Spartanburg and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid and accomplished gardener. She was a Master Gardener. Dolly and Dusty loved traveling the world together, but most important in her life was her family.
Dolly is survived by her 3 children, Rebecca Darr Lockery and husband Robert, Sheila Darr Parks and husband Steve, Kenneth Eugene Darr, Jr. and wife Margaret, grandchildren: Amy Lockery Johnson, James Robert Lockery, Sara Kate Lockery, Steven Michael Parks, Kenneth Ryan Parks, Rebecca Darr Masters, Kenneth Kirkpatrick Darr, Andrew Chandler Darr, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home and the caregivers at Evergreen - Eden Terrace.
A private service will be held to celebrate Dolly’s life.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 7th, 4:00-7:00PM at 234 Beechwood Drive.
