Leroy McKinley Sheppard

Leroy M. “Mr. Leroy” Sheppard Spartanburg – Leroy McKinley Sheppard II, 45, husband of Marlaina Bowen Sheppard, entered heaven Thursday April 7, 2016. Mr. Leroy was born on November 24, 1970 to Leroy McKinley Sheppard and the late Judy Tester Sheppard. Leroy was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg and a graduate of Bob Jones University. Leroy has been involved in ministry since he was a teenager volunteering in the bus ministry at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, TN. His heart's desire was to take Jesus to the hurting and hopeless. He served as Pastor at Gospel Baptist, Cowpens. He served as youth and children's minister at the Laotian Baptist Mission. He founded and directed Shepherd's Door Ministries for over ten years. His love for his wife and children was enormous. His life was lived to make Christ known and countless lives have been touched by his service. In addition to his wife and father, Leroy is survived by his children, Rebecca, Kayla, Hannah Grace, Willow, Luke, Leroy Sheppard III all of Spartanburg; four brothers, William Stewart, Jackie, Steve, Jeff Metcalf all of TN; a sister, Patricia Rebol of OH; paternal grandfather, John Sheppard of VA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant child, Logan Sheppard. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM to 5:00PM on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at The First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. A funeral service will follow at 5:00PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will be in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery.
