Spartanburg, SC- Joseph Earl Pace, 86, husband of Barbara Browning Pace, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016. Born August 31, 1929 in Marion, SC, Joe was the son of the late Charles Legrand and Bertha Crooks Pace Emanuel. He attended Spartanburg Junior College, Clemson University, where he was a cheerleader for the Clemson Tigers, and Wofford College, where he sang in the Chorus and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Joe honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the US Army. He retired as Vice President of Bruce Chemical Corporation and worked in the field of textile chemicals for many years. In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, Joe is survived by his daughters, Robin Kelly (John), Kay Wise (Michael), and Sandy; a grandson, John Joseph Kelly; two granddaughters, Mary Katherine Wise and Kathleen Duvall Wise; and great grandchildren, Riley Olivia Kelly and Parker Lawton Kelly. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Pace. The only thing that rivaled his love of family was his love of the Clemson Tigers, followed closely by his love of golf. Joe was a gifted sketch artist. He also dabbled in archery. Joe was a man of courage and immense integrity with a wonderful sense of humor. He was one of those rare individuals who was impossible to dislike and leaves many friends behind. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 18th, 10:00AM at Morningside Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Dr. Kirk H. Neely. The family will receive friends following the service.
