Spartanburg, SC- Staff Sergeant Daryl Dalton (SCSG) passed away Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016. Daryl suffered a massive heart attack the week prior and spent his final week in Spartanburg Regional surrounded by his family, dear friends, coworkers, and countless people who benefitted from Daryl’s endless desire to serve.
Everyone who knew, interacted with, or served alongside Daryl speaks of him as a tireless servant. It was his chief desire to see everyone else succeed and for his community to be greater. The impact of his life will not only be felt in his passing, but will reverberate through the countless number of lives he influenced.
Daryl never sang of his own achievements, but preferred to work behind the scenes. The success of his tireless, unbroken service can be seen in the joy and deep laughter of anyone who knew him as they recount stories, memories, jokes, and adventures of a man who cared so deeply. As a follower of Christ, Daryl lived his life in such a way as to glorify God in every way possible. Because of Daryl’s relationship with Jesus Christ, his family and community are confident that he is now restored and made whole.
Daryl is survived by his adoring wife Kathy, their three children and two daughters in love, Michael, Kacie, Emily Katherine, Andrew, and Katherine; brother, Butch; parents Clyde and Becky; parents in-love, James and Dorothy Paul; siblings-in-love, Jimmy, Wendy, Karen, Kristy, Wayne, and their children.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 23rd, 9:30-10:45 AM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Funeral services will follow in the sanctuary at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Dr. Don Wilton, Reverend Sam Davis, and Reverend Seth Buckley.
Burial and military rites will be held immediately after the service in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to honor Daryl’s desire to serve others with donations made to Kentucky Missions and the Green Street Church Project, both through First Baptist Spartanburg; more information about giving can be found at fbs.org/giving.
