Susan Eleanor Caldwell Coyle

Spartanburg, SC- Susan Eleanor Caldwell Coyle, 74, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Born January 28, 1942 in Winthrop, MA, Susan was the daughter of the late Edward and Barbara Jones Caldwell. She was a graduate of Collinswood High School in New Jersey and attended the College of Mary Washington in Virginia. Susan married in Japan and settled into her life as a military wife in California where she raised her two sons. She was a loving and devoted mother. Susan became a technology manager in Silicon Valley. As the beloved niece of Jim and Eleanor Ledbetter, Susan moved to Spartanburg, SC later in life. She was a faithful and committed member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving in SPHIN ministries, Young Life, Vacation Bible School, Kid’s Inc., Westminster Aftercare, and the 39er’s Club, as well as the Westminster Day School. Susan served as a former Elder at Westminster and was a faithful volunteer for the S.C School for the Deaf and Blind and Habitat for Humanity. Her great love for the Lord was manifested, not only in her devoted love for her own grandchildren and nieces, but in her service to all children and her fellow man. Susan is survived by her two sons, Michael Edward Coyle (D’Andra) and their children, Jacob and Justin, and James Edward Coyle (Alexis) and their children, Ryan and Caitlin; brothers, David Caldwell (Barbara) and their children, Emily, Jennifer, Sarah, and Angela, and John Caldwell (Eloise). A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, May 1st, 3:30PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Steve Wise. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In remembrance of Susan, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, designated to the Children’s Ministries or to the Day School, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
