Moore, SC- John David Abercrombie, 47, husband of Danna Lyles Abercrombie, died Monday, May 16, 2016.
Born November 6, 1968 in Spartanburg, SC, David was the son of Betty Taylor Abercrombie Forrester and Bart Abercrombie. He was a beloved teacher at Dorman High School where he taught government/economics and worked with at risk and special needs children. David was a die-hard Cavalier and Wofford Terrier fan. He was a public announcer for the University of South Carolina- Upstate and the voice of the Dorman High School Athletic Department. David had a beautiful tenor voice and sang with many gospel quartets. As much as he loved Dorman High School, he loved his church even more and was a longtime member of Roebuck Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Christopher Kyle and Lauren Olivia Knight; step mother, Linda Caton Abercrombie; a sister, Neili Forrester Vassey (Kevin); three step sisters, Paige Taylor (Pat), Deborah Sarradet (Brendan), Allison Mathis (Todd); niece and nephew, Micahla and Jonas Vassey; an uncle, David Melvin Abercrombie; two aunts, Iris Abercrombie and Evelyn Pettit; and his beloved canine companions, Albert Einstein and Addie Mae Abercrombie.
He was predeceased by his step father, Richard Neil Forrester.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 19th, 4:00PM at Roebuck Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Dr. Tim Williams and Reverend Jack Caldwell.
The family will receive friends following the service.
