Harry M. “Mike” Hughes
Pacolet - Funeral services for Mr. Harry Michael Hughes, age 76, of Spartanburg, SC on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Neely presiding. The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel.
A native of Gillham, Arkansas, Mr. Hughes was born on May 26, 1939 and passed away on May 24 at his home in Spartanburg. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he devoted the majority of his professional life to the restaurant industry. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, where he was involved in the Yesterday’s Teens choir and The Encouraging Word television broadcast.
Mr. Hughes is survived by two sons – Tommy Hughes (Debbie) of Mobile, AL and Ken Hughes (Sonya) of Hartsville, SC; a stepson – Robert Strickland (Valery) of Rocky Mount, VA; three brothers – William “Bill” Hughes (Maggie) of Marshall, TX, John Hughes (Jay) of Uxbridge, MA, and Dennis Hughes of Bay Minette, AL; special daughter and son, Teresa and David Holliday of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte of Spartanburg; parents Harry H. Hughes and Marguerite Braswell Hughes; sister Barbra Rothleitner of Tomball, TX and brother Tommy Hughes of Camden, AR.
Interment will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
