Spartanburg, SC- Larry Everette Hardin, 67, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his home. Born January 6, 1949 in Kings Mountain, NC, Larry was the son of Doris Victoria Huffstetler Hardin and the late Jack Everette Hardin. He was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School, East Tennessee State, Johnson City University, and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Larry studied journalism and broadcasting and was ordained as a minister at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, where he was a member. He was a Chaplain in Topeka, Kansas at Brewster Place, and retired to South Carolina where he was a Chaplain at Spartanburg Regional. Larry was very gracious with his time and energy, volunteering in some capacity through the majority of his adult life. He served as a missionary in Sitka, Alaska and most recently with WADI Church in Canada. Larry also served as media support for First Baptist Church Spartanburg. In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his children, Zachary Loren Hardin, Jackson Robert-Wade Hardin, and Adria Nicole Hardin; and two sisters, Pamela Darlene Hardin-Moore and Jackie Hardin Philbeck. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9th, 12:30-1:45PM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Memorial services will follow in the Davis Chapel at 2PM, officiated by Reverend Sal Barone and Reverend Bill Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Spartanburg, 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
