Douglas W. Hendrix

Douglas W. Hendrix Spartanburg - Douglas W. Hendrix, 83, husband of the late Bobbie J. Pittman Hendrix, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was the son of the late Paul and Arizona Hendrix. Douglas honorably served our country in the Air Force during the Korea Conflicts and Vietnam War. In our community, he served as a fire commissioner for the Croft Fire Department. As a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, he served as a deacon and played an integral role in the church’s media outreach ministry. Douglas is survived by his daughters, Sharon Varner and husband Kenneth, Linda Wallington and husband Chuck. He has 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Dunbar Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow in the Dunbar Funeral Home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Media Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg; 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
