Edwin Dean Long

Edwin Dean Long Spartanburg – Edwin Dean Long, 76, husband of the Donna Cashwell Long, died Saturday, June 18, 2016. Ed was born on February 10, 1940 to the late Arthur and Vera Ivey Long. He was a 1962 Graduate of Wofford College, faithfully served his country in the US Army, and retired from the construction industry. Ed was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, a member of the New Boy’s Sunday School Class, he also served as an usher, Adult Singles Sunday School Teacher, and a Deacon. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Ed is survived by a son, Kevin Long of Boiling Springs; daughter, Amy Kniffen (Tony) of Indiana; brother, James Long (Irene) of Spartanburg; two sisters Brenda Cooksey of Spartanburg, and Emily Mitchell . He was blessed with six grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, Luke, Jason, Evelyn, and Kate Elizabeth. Ed was predeceased by a brother, David Long; and a sister, Doris Pack. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in the E. Gibson Davis Chapel at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home.
