Ernestine June “Teenie” Banner Peksa died on June 27, 2016 of a head injury sustained while watering her flowers. A woman filled with faith, she was gentle and kind, warm and welcoming, joyous and elegant, and she always smelled wonderful. She was extraordinarily unselfish and responded to adversity with patience and grace. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Francis Peksa. We, her children, have never seen a couple who loved each other as much as our parents did. She dearly loved daughters, Pamela (Robert) Novak and Debbie Moore, and sons, Cappy (Lynda) and Mark (Deborah) Peksa. She delighted in her grandchildren: Bryan (Krista) Peksa, Caryn, Charlie, and Ian Peksa, Jen (Steve) Byrd, Josh (Lauren) Moore, Marnie (Michael) McGrath, and Banner Peksa. She rejoiced in each great-grandchild: Rob, Toni, and Tom Byrd, Avery, Ethan, and Jones Moore, Marielle and Will McGrath, and Caleb Peksa; and she would have been thrilled to know of a new little McGrath who will arrive in January. She is also survived by dear sisters, Martha (Al) Newton and Norma (Ed) Connelly, brother Ernest Banner, and dear nieces, nephews, and friends. Teenie was a native of Blowing Rock, NC and graduated from Duke University School of Nursing. She was a Navy wife for 28 years and lived all over the world. There will be a celebration of her life at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Dr., Spartanburg at 2 PM Saturday, July 2.
