Spartanburg, SC- Shanna Lawter Miller, 38, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 2, 2016. She was the devoted wife of the late William Henry Miller, III.
On October 28, 1977, Shanna was born to her adoring parents, Joe and Peggy Lawter of Roebuck, SC. She attended district 6 schools and graduated from Dorman High School, class of 1995. Shanna was employed with Aldi and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Shanna was a free spirit who loved gardening. She had a great affection for her pets and she loved many kinds of music. Shanna was a hard worker and well respected by her co-workers. She was a person of great faith and fortitude. Although she was well acquainted with grief, loss, and hardships, she never lost her faith or let it make her bitter. She was beautiful and brave.
Shanna was a thankful person, grateful for her son and loved ones. She enjoyed the simple things in life; sun, rain, nature, and laughing. Shanna always said, “I’m not lucky, I’m blessed.” She was compassionate and caring, always seeing the best in others. Shanna was a great encourager, willing to lift up the fallen, and was generous to a fault. Her desire was not to achieve the temporary things of this world, not to be rich or affluent, but to simply be a giver and to live out the true meaning of unconditional love, for love was not just a word to her, but a way of life.
Though she is now absent from the body, she is present with the Lord. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, and she now has received her crown of righteousness. Her last wish to this world would have been for us to love God, and love each other, for we are all just passing through.
Shanna was most proud of her son, William Joseph Miller, for his honesty and character. He was always her greatest priority and always taught him to have faith in God.
In addition to her son, Joseph, Shanna is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Peggy Lawter, whom she always took great pride in their 43 years of marriage; her maternal grandmother, Polly M. Lewis; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who all cherished her.
Shanna was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Roland Lewis, Jr.; and paternal grandparents, Vernon and Gladys Lawter.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 8th, 10-11AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 11AM in the sanctuary, officiated by Reverend Jim Oliver and Reverend Kenneth Cash.
Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P O Box 229, Roebuck, SC 29376.
