Ferolene Cooley

Spartanburg, SC- Ferolene Cooley, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 28, 2016. A native of Cherokee County, she was born September 6, 1924, the daughter of the late Mary Etta Tallant and Worth Lee Medley. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde Lee Medley and Robert Lee Medley; and two sisters, Myrtle Mae Byars and Elmeree Blanton, all previous residents of Gaffney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ferolene was a graduate of Gaffney High School and worked for the Employment Security Commission for forty two years. During her years of employment, she helped numerous individuals find jobs, which was a source of great satisfaction for her. Ferolene was committed to her work and helping others through her role as a job recruiter. She was a member of the Fernwood Baptist Church, and the H. Hendley Friendship Sunday School class in Spartanburg. Ferolene is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Michael Cooley; her two daughters, Mary Ann Osment and Lynne Brown Judy; four grandchildren, William Randolph Judy and his wife, Casey Satterfield Judy, and their daughter, Caroline Eaker Judy, Benjamin Ross Judy, Jennifer Lynne Osment, and Mary Ashley Parrish and her husband, Cameron Andrew Parrish; and many special nieces and nephews. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Above all else, Ferolene valued her time with her family and was passionate about motivating her children and grandchildren to be the best version of themselves. She was a strong encourager and wanted nothing more than to see her children and grandchildren succeed in life and in all of their endeavors. The funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 1st at Dunbar Funeral Home. Visitation will immediately follow the service. A committal will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
