William E. "Bill" Humphries

William “Bill” E. Humphries, Jr. Spartanburg – William Earle Humphries, Jr. , 91, husband of Frances Johnson Humphries, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Bill was born on January 26, 1925 to the late William E. Humphries, Sr. and Eunice Wilson Humphries. He faithfully served his country in the US Navy, retiring after 22 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. Bill also retired from the US Postal Service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by a son, Douglas E. Humphries of Greer; two brothers, Jimmy Humphries, Jerry Humphries both of Spartanburg; two sisters, Kay Alexander of Spartanburg, and Florence Frings of Columbia. Bill was blessed with two grandsons, Evan William Humphries and Alex Richard Humphries. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Humphries; three brothers, Robert, Johnny, and Joe Humphries; and a sister, Martha George. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM to 5:00PM on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
