Thomas Wayne Barker

Spartanburg, SC- Thomas Wayne Barker, 69, husband of Mary Jayne Paynter Barker, died Friday, August 5, 2016. Born September 19, 1946 in Spartanburg, SC, Thomas was the son of the late Dean Tate and Jessie Sanders Barker. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), receiving two purple hearts. Thomas was also an Eagle Scout. In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his three sons, Dean Tate Barker, Anthony DuWayne Barker, and Darin Fredrick Barker; and three grandchildren, August, Alex, and Sarah. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 10th, 6:00-8:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, August 11th, at 10:00AM in the M J Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
