Everett Bernard Tillotson

Spartanburg, SC- Everett Bernard Tillotson, 91, husband of the late Nell Painter Tillotson, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Born December 29, 1924 in Spartanburg, SC, Everett was a son of the late Howard Fitzgerald and Bernice Cole Tillotson. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and honorably served his country in the US Navy. Everett retired from Southern Bell after 35 years of service. Since then, he was self-employed working in communications in the Spartanburg Community. Everett was a Master Mason with the Spartan Lodge #70, shriner, and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. Everett is survived by his daughters, Terry Weldon and her husband, John, of Chapin, SC and Rhonda T. Van Liew and her husband, Gary, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Makenna Colby Van Liew and Gentry Everett Van Liew; step grandchildren, Dean Weldon and Benjamin Weldon; a brother, Albert Tillotson; a sister, Lib Towe; a brother in-law, Joe Seay; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbors, Bob and Betty Jo Godfrey. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a grandchild, Colby Michelle Justice; and two brothers, Joe and John Tillotson. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28th, 12:30-1:45PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 2PM, officiated by Reverend David Howell. Burial will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In remembrance of Everett, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 438 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 1530 Drayton Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
