Spartanburg, SC- James Dennis Couch, 60, husband of Janis Kay Blalock Couch, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 21, 1956 in Spartanburg, SC, Jim was a son of Betty Ann Huitt Couch and the late James Aaron Couch. He was known for his sense of humor and passion for American history, especially the Civil War and historic battlefields. Jim was an Eagle Scout who dedicated his life to the service of others. He served as a mentor to many young people and shared his love of history with them. Jim was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church, where he reached out to those in need and did so without fanfare. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his beloved fur babies, Polly and Nita; his brother, Eric J. Couch (Leslie) of Ocala, FL; his sister, Lynda Lee Couch Adair (John) of Spartanburg, SC; and Godchildren, Christopher and Phillip Harris and Kimberly Davis Boyce. Jim was a much loved “Uncle Beep” to his five nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, October 28th, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29th, 2PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Dr. Tim Williams and Reverend Francis Browne.
