Becky Walker Taylor

Becky Walker Taylor Spartanburg – Rebecca “Becky” W. Taylor, 57, wife of the late Mike Taylor, died Wednesday November 2, 2016 after a brief illness. Becky was born on August 2, 1959 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Fred A. and Lula G. Walker of Roebuck. She was a graduate of Dorman High School and attended USC Upstate. She served as the USC Upstate financial aid student services coordinator.   Becky devoted her entire 39 year career to the Upstate campus.  Her love for students and dedication to their success was evident every day.  Her sweet personality and generous spirit were her trademark.  Students asked for her by name on a daily basis.  Becky loved her Spartans and her Gamecocks.  An Avid Gamecock fan who had attended all home football games the last 30 years and many Bowl Games. She was a sports enthusiast and loved the student athletes like they were her children.  She was on a first name basis with all the coaches and attended games every week.  Every day she put a smile on someone’s face.  She was the recipient of the 2015 Morrell Enrollment Staff Member of the Year Award. Becky was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She is survived by her very special sister, Linda Walker, her friend, Ralph Eubanks of Spartanburg, and the love of her life, Bootsie, her dog. The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 7:30PM on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. James David Moore. Please honor Becky by wearing your favorite casual collegiate wear. USC Upstate faculty and staff will be honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the USC Upstate Foundation at 800 University Way, Spartanburg, SC 29303.  The funds will be designated to a scholarship in memory of Becky and her love of students.  The family is at the home of her sister.
