John Earl Sloan, Sr.

Spartanburg, SC- John Earl Sloan, Sr., 75, died Friday, January 6, 2017. Born April 18, 1941 in Woodruff, SC, John was a son of the late Marvin Earl Sloan and Lucy Honeycutt Jackson. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Symtech Inc. as an electrical engineer. John was a loving and devoted father, brother, and grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith. John is survived by his son, John E. Sloan, Jr.; three daughters, Sindy Clary, Roxanne Parks, and Crystal Sloan; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his brother, Larry Sloan; and sister, Ann Parham. In addition to his father and mother, he was predeceased by his step father, Carl Jackson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 11th, 10-11AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 11AM, officiated by Reverend Carrol Caldwell. Burial with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517  Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
