James Kenneth Stapleton

Roebuck, SC- James Kenneth Stapleton, 68, husband of Catherine “Cathy” Tripp Stapleton, died Sunday, January 8, 2017. Born July 12, 1948 in Union, SC, Ken was a son of the late Carl Eugene and Hilda Putnam Stapleton. He honorably served his country in the US Army Reserve and was the owner and operator of Stapleton’s Frame Shop. Ken was a member of Ruritan Club for 45 years and was a longtime, active, and faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church, where his parents were Charter members. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Ken is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Stapleton Flores (Anton) of LaGrange, GA and Katie Stapleton of Charleston, SC; grandchild, Jairo Flores; a brother, Gene Stapleton of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Linda Stapleton of Orange Park, FL and Rebecca Stapleton Prince of Spartanburg, SC; several nieces and nephews; mother in-law, Joan Tripp of Greenville, SC; and brother in-law, Philip Tripp (Sara) of York, SC. He was predeceased by a grandson, Eli Flores. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 12th, 4PM at St. James United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Wayne Smith. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 N. Lanford Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
