Garland Payne Lyles

Garland Payne Lyles Spartanburg – Garland Payne Lyles, 83, husband of Joyce Epps Lyles, died February 23, 2017. Payne was born on January 21, 1934 to the late Arch and Estelle Butler Lyles of Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was Koran era US Army veteran and a retired regional engineer for TeleCable Corp. Payne was an avid NASCAR fan and previously raced his own dragster. He was a charter member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Payne is survived by two sons, Steve Lyles (Shirley) of Florence, SC, Mark Lyles (Libby) of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Anna Lyles, Cameron Lyles (Casey), Clayton Lyles; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. Interment will be at Westwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church Building Fund: 4371 Anderson Mill Rd, Moore, SC 29369 The family is at the home.
