Spartanburg, SC- Rebecca Ramsaur Pennell of Summit Hills, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Born on April 6, 1932, Becky was a native of Lincolnton, NC, and was the daughter of the late Bergin Jenkins and Edna Hoyle Ramsaur. She was the widow of Thomas Patrick Pennell. She was a graduate of Converse College, class of 1953, and a member of Central Methodist Church. Becky was passionate about music, a strong believer in diplomacy, and worked quietly to better the lives of others. Becky is survived by three children, Elizabeth Pennell Lowndes and her husband, William, Sarah Pennell Chambers and her husband, Randall, of Spartanburg SC, and Thomas Patrick Pennell Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Chesterfield, VA; five grandchildren, Rawlins Lowndes, Elizabeth Lowndes Schoonover, Thomas Patrick Pennell III, Virginia Caroline Pennell, and Alexander Pennell Chambers; three great grandchildren, Virginia Schoonover, Rhetta and William Lowndes. Becky was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Ramsaur Harding. The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care by Nancy Johnson, Monica Soto and the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4th, 11AM at Central United Methodist Church. A reception will be held following the service at Converse College, Blackman Music Hall. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Converse College Petrie School of Music, 580 E.
