Poplar Springs, SC- Greta Boyter, 86, departed from this world peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Daughter of Danish immigrants Charles and Inger Jensen, Greta was born April 4th 1930 in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Elberon, NJ where she attended Monmouth Junior College and earned an Associate’s degree. Married to Kenneth Malcolm Boyter in 1955, she raised her family in Oceanport, NJ until 1986 when both she and Ken retired as civilian employees of Fort Monmouth, NJ. In retirement they ran a small cattle farm in Ken’s ancestral home in Poplar Springs, SC where Greta enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends, choral singing, baking cakes, gardening and playing with her many cats and dogs. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Malcolm Boyter; and her sister, Ellen Cameron. Greta leaves behind two children, Charles Boyter of Willingboro NJ and Karen Boyter of Baton Rouge LA; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, March 17th, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18th, 10AM at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, officiated by Reverend Alan Kinsey. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
