William E. “Bill” Helderman Spartanburg- William Earl Helderman, 87. The loving husband of Ethel Norwood Helderman, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2017, Bill was born in Spartanburg, a son of the late Earl J. and Avanell Sprouse Helderman. He attended North Greenville Junior College and Cecil’s Business College. Bill retired from the CSX Railroad after 30 years of service. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church, formally a member of Oak Grove Baptist church where he taught Sunday School for 23 years. Bill faithfully served his Country in the US Army during the Korean War. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Bill is survived by a brother, Richard (Carolyn), of Travelers Rest; a brother-in-law, Melvin Norwood (Rita) and a sister-in-law, Kay Norwood; nieces, Kristen Bloom (Justin), Lyn Albright (Ronnie); nephews, Curtis Norwood (Lindsey) and Allen Helderman. He also leaves behind, Great nieces, Lauren Albright, Casey Helderman, Courtlynn Norwood; Great nephews, Matthew Helderman (Lexa), Kaden Huskey and Kasen Bloom. Bill was predeceased by a sister, Ann Helderman McElrath. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 1, from 2:00-2:45 PM at Covenant Baptist Church, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, officiated by the Rev. Gary Hensley and Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rick Simpson, Rod Lembcke, Wilson Bridges, Curtis Norwood, Justin Bloom, and Kaden Huskey.
