Angela Katherine Stinson

Angela Katherine “Kay” Browning Stinson of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born in Spartanburg on December 2, 1937, to the late Victor Stokes Browning and Mary Edna Newman Browning Brightwell. She was married to the late Dr. Jimmie L. Stinson. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children: daughter, Cynthia Kay Brookshire and husband Shane of Tulsa, OK.; sons, Byron Gregory Stinson and wife Debbie, Stephen Browning Stinson and wife Patty, and Wendell Scott Stinson all of Spartanburg, SC; and son, Victor Hamilton Stinson and wife Sonia of Sydney, Australia. Also, surviving is her brother, Victor Stokes Browning, Jr. and wife Linda of Greenville, SC. She is survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents & husband, Kay was predeceased by sons, Milo David Stinson and Jimmie L. Stinson, Jr.

Kay was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where, alongside her husband Jim, she started Builders Sunday school. She was a talented cook, baker, music lover, and band manager (for her son Scott’s band, Shatter Act). She was always eager to provide meals or cakes for a loved one in need and usually with a kind note. Kay loved gardening and never went long without a furry friend at her side, especially her sweet dog Bella. She loved her dogs & cats as if they were her children.

The family would like to acknowledge Kay’s friends, past and present, especially her lunch bunch crew for their Wednesday outings, and her faithful friend Gerald Broome, for their friendship, love and support. 

The family will receive friends 12:30-1:45 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
