Spartanburg, SC - Anne Barden McKinney, beloved wife of 25 years to Dr. Troy McKinney of Spartanburg, South Carolina, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 25, 2018. Anne was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 13, 1966, to Dr. Glen and Em Barden. She graduated from Lakeland High School in 1984, from Furman University in 1988, and Wake Forest Medical School in 1993. In addition to her husband, Troy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy McKinney Sr., Anne is survived by her parents, Dr. Glen and Em Barden; her twin sister, Caroline Stratas Gianoplus; her younger sister, Ashley Barden Alfaro; and her three children, the absolute treasures of her life: Myers McKinney (21) is a rising senior at Wake Forest, Glen McKinney (20) is also a rising senior at Wake Forest, and Hudson McKinney (19) is a rising sophomore at Vanderbilt University. Anne was a strong Christian with a close-knit group of friends who studied the Bible weekly. She was a board member of Mobile Meals and chaired the fundraiser for two years. She loved life to the fullest and approached each day with joy and hope. Though Anne loved cooking, traveling, zinnias, mountains, lakes, beaches, and most of all people, she worshipped the creator and not the creation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mobile Meals, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304 and Young Life, PO Box 1314, Spartanburg, SC 29304. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 on Thursday, June 28th at 5:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service.
