Arthur Odell Riddle, born May 27, 1945, peacefully journeyed to his eternal rest on October 17, 2023. Arthur was the son of the late Herbert and Laura Branch Riddle. He was predeceased by his late wife, Sue Carroll Riddle. Arthur graduated from Roebuck High School where he also drove a bus. After graduation Arthur spent many years as a truck driver for Kohler, Harley Bag, Union Camp and Spartan Express until an automobile accident left him disabled. After Doctors told Arthur he would not walk again, he worked very hard and within two years proved them wrong. Against all odds, Arthur was still walking until the day he passed because that is the kind of man he was, tough, determined and independent. He truly loved his family, his friends, NASCAR and Country Music. He will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him and spent time with him. His memory lives on through his beloved family, daughters, Elizabeth R. Thomas (Will) and Lisa Riddle Swainson (Jimmy), both of Spartanburg, SC., and through his grandchildren: Grey Pittman(Sarah) of Greenville, SC, Will Thomas Jr.(Caroline), Alex Foster(Turner), and Jonah Stepp, also of Spartanburg. In addition to his grandchildren, Arthur was blessed with two great-grandchildren: Sullivan Thomas and Jack Foster. Arthur is survived by two sisters, Linda King of Greensboro, NC, and Janice Sanders of Edisto Island, SC, and many nieces and nephews. Arthur was also predeceased by several loved ones, including his brothers, Freeman, Herbert, and Curtis Riddle, as well as his sisters, Doris Childes, Mary Ann Marx, and Lois Taylor, and a grandchild, Noah Stepp. Services will be Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 2PM, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
