Barbara Ann Burnett Haar was born on May 29, 1929, and entered into Eternal Rest on February 21, 2022. A lifelong resident of Spartanburg County, she was born in Chesnee, SC, the daughter of the late Harley J. Burnett and the late Venie McClure Burnett. She was a graduate, with honors, from New Prospect High School, and a graduate of Furman University, where she was named one of eight outstanding seniors. Following high school, she taught high school for several years before retiring to raise her family with her beloved husband, Harry J. Haar, Jr., who died in 1980. Following his death, she entered the field of retail clothing and fashion consulting. Her career spanned almost 35 years from the Cambridge House to Ellis Clothes of Distinction to Jeanne Harley Antiques. Upon retiring, she became an associate consultant with Doncaster, Inc., and later Carlisle.
She was past president of the Spartanburg Junior Woman’s Club, the Shortier Garden Club, the Wednesday Study Club, and a member and past president of the Spartanburg Debutante Club.
A devoted member of Fernwood Baptist Church for over 60 years, she taught Sunday School for twenty years and served on numerous committees.
She was the wife of the late Harry Jurgen Haar, Jr., and is survived by a son, Harry Jay Haar and wife, Suzanne, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and a daughter, Mindy Ann Rendell and husband, Brad Rendell, of Winnetka, IL. She adored her 6 grandchildren, William Pierce Haar and wife, Jennifer, Allison Gray Evermann and husband, Gunnar, Catherine Pierce Watson and husband, Tyler, Brittany Ann Rendell, Bradley Mills Rendell, and Austin Haar Rendell; and great-grandchildren, Mark Evermann, George Evermann and Lake Haar. She was also survived by a sister in-law, Tillie Tice; a special niece, Sara Hart and husband, Ladson; two grand-nephews, Mills and Craton; a sister in-law, Mary Louise Wilson and husband, Norman; and two nephews, George and Harry Wilson. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry; a son, Cameron Pierce Haar; and her brother, Harry Burnett.
Ann was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother and lived life to its fullest in many ways. She delighted in family and friends and had a lifelong love of good books, good friends, and beautiful flowers.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 25th, 3:00PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Matt Johnson.
