Barbara Stephens Smith

Boiling Springs, SC- Barbara Ann Stephens Smith, 86, wife of the late Bobby Adair Smith, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Born September 24, 1936 in Spartanburg, SC, Barbara was a daughter of the late James Elmore Stephens and Mildred Horton Stephens.  She was a graduate of Roebuck High School. Barbara served many years in the banking/credit industry, earning the award of Spartanburg’s Credit Woman of the Year in 1987. She was a faithful member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Stephen Smith (Libby) and David Smith (Janice) both of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren, Laura Leonard (Tyler) of Thornton, CO, James Smith (Katie) of Indian Land, SC, Chelsea Gray (Kyle) of Brevard, NC, Drew Smith (Caroline) of Spartanburg, SC, Matthew Smith (Vale) of Lima, Peru, and Temple Smith Renfrow (John Mark) of Greenville, SC; eight great grandchildren, Madelyn Leonard, Warren Smith, Emerson Gray, Jacob Smith, Miles Gray, Sofia Smith, Josey Kate Smith, and Emma Smith; a brother, James E. Stephens, Jr.; and two sisters, Eldora Floyd and Patsy Eubanks.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, Barbara was predeceased by a son, Thomas Phillip Smith.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 15^th, 10:30-11:15AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow in the Chapel at 11:30AM.
