Barbara Louise Hunt Wade ("Bobbi" to her friends and cherished "Bobo" to her grandchildren) passed away peacefully at her home on February 18th at the age of 93. Born May 7, 1931 in Greer, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edward Hunt and Mattie Lee Mears Hunt. Barbara graduated from Women's College (now UNC) in Greensboro NC with a degree in education. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Willard Gene Wade.
With characteristic energy and vision, Barbara made lasting contributions to every place she called home. While living in Travelers Rest, she was instrumental in establishing the town's first library. After moving to Spartanburg in 1967, she continued to enrich her community while raising her family. Barbara's entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found and co-own "Galleria On Main," a distinctive women's apparel shop. Her creative eye and passion for design found expression in her many years renovating homes in Spartanburg and on Kiawah Island.
Known for her effortless elegance and warm hospitality, Barbara had a gift for making everyone feel special in her presence. Barbara's home was a testament to her gracious spirit, often filled with the laughter of family and friends of all ages gathered around her beautifully set table. Her exquisite taste in fashion and decor was matched only by her joy in sharing life's adventures with family and her cherished circle of friends during many travels together. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and formerly First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.
Barbara is survived by a daughter, Ryan Williams (Tim) and son, Gregg (Mary Helen), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her family was truly the delight of her heart, and she loved nothing more than being involved in their lives and spending time with each one.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to her wonderful caregivers from Pathways Hospice, Home Instead, and Live Long Well Care with special thanks to Joyce Landers, Jennifer Paccapaniccia, and Maggie Holmes.
