Barry Edward Nigh, 86, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was born in Shidler, OK on June 30, 1938 to the late Eula Doris (Spencer) and Frank E. Nigh.
Growing up in Coffeyville, KS, Barry was a member of First Christian Church. He graduated from Field McKinley High School and Pittsburg State University, where he was a member of the swim team, specializing in the breaststroke. Barry proudly served in the United States Army.
Barry married his beloved LaHoma A. Turney on June 11, 1960. He moved their family to South Carolina in 1967 and lived there for the rest of his life. Barry was an Accountant for many years, leading the accounting functions of several businesses throughout his career. He loved giving back to his community, beginning with the Kansas Jaycees and later with the National Association of Accountants in South Carolina, mentoring and sharing his vast business and accounting knowledge. Barry also found great joy in spending time with his family, especially target shooting, hunting, and fishing with his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, LaHoma of the home; children, Julie N. Kicklighter (John) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Jeffery D. Nigh (Sammie) of Fitzpatrick, AL; grandchildren, Woodman D. Nigh, Spencer C. Nigh, Bradford D. Kicklighter, and Benjamin L. Kicklighter; and sister, Kay Churchill of Enid, OK.
Services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, with a visitation starting at 1:15 PM and a Funeral Service at 2 PM, at the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home.
