Betty Hensley Cartee

Betty Hensley Cartee of Chesnee, SC passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the age of 85. She was born in Mills Springs, NC on November 12, 1940 to the late Robert and Bessie Shehan Hensley.

Betty was one of eleven children, helping raise and taking wonderful care of her siblings. She was employed by Spartan Mills for many years as a weaver. Betty loved tending to her garden and canning the vegetables she grew, especially chow-chow. She loved her entire family deeply and took pride in all of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved dog, Sassy; daughters, Kimberly Kay Painter (Justin) of Chesnee and Rhonda Taylor Underwood of Landrum; grandchildren, James Taylor (Laurna), Crystal Montanez (Saul), Johnathan Underwood (Melissa), Craig Belanger, Cory Taylor, Autumn Taylor, Mason Painter, and McKenzie Painter; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2:00-2:45pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Tony Patton.
