Betty Lee Osment Koon, 94, died peacefully November 13, 2021 at The Inverness of Spartanburg: Assisted Living. Native to Spartanburg, Betty was born May 22, 1927 to Anthony Amos "Jack" Osment and Pearl Montgomery Lee Osment Genoble of Pacolet, SC; wife of the late William Richard "Bill" Koon of Asheville/Spartanburg; mother of Nan Phillips (Bob), Rebecca Koon and Nita Biven of Spartanburg; grandmother of Will Phillips (Lita), Spartanburg and Andrew Phillips (Karen),Sacramento, Ca. and Maggie Umberger Quintana (Stephen), Chicago, IL; great-grandmother of Jackson, Margaret and Henry Phillips; and sibling of Jean Bobo and Patricia Williams, Spartanburg and Thomas Genoble, Seneca, SC. Betty had a 40 year career as a Registered Nurse and was a faithful servant over 70 years at St. John's Lutheran Church (Circle 1). A pet lover and bird watcher, she enjoyed attending live music and theatre and traveling with friends. Betty's zest for life was rooted in the solace she found in God and the pride she took in her home and family. She was beloved by all who knew her. Her service will be Monday, November 22nd, 2 o'clock, St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine Street, Pastor Erin Morris officiating (to view recording, visit stjohns-spartanburg.org). The family will be in the Fellowship Hall at 1pm to greet guests. Mrs. Koon's ashes will be interred privately in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
