Boiling Springs, SC- Bobby Adair Smith, 86, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born April 8, 1935 in Roebuck, SC, he was a son of the late Henry Madison and Kate Gossett Smith. Mr. Smith was a master electrician and electrical designer. He was a graduate of Cohen Electrical School in Chicago, IL, and spent the bulk of his career at Lyman Printing & Finishing and Dan F. Williamson & Company before retiring at 80 years old. A little league baseball coach, umpire, and lifelong lover of all sports, he enjoyed his retirement cheering on his South Carolina Gamecocks. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought him his great joy. Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg. In 1997, Mr. Smith underwent a heart transplant at Emory Healthcare, which blessed his family with an additional 25 years of memories. He used this time to grow in his faith and spend precious time with his family. The Smith family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at Emory for their care over the past 25 years, as well as to the family of the heart donor for the gift of life. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Stephens Smith; sons, Stephen Smith (Libby) of Ellijay, GA and David Smith (Janice) of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren, Laura Leonard (Tyler) of Thornton, CO, James Smith (Katie) of Indian Land, NC, Chelsea Gray (Kyle) of Brevard, NC, Drew Smith (Caroline) of Spartanburg, SC, Matthew Smith (Vale) of Lima, Peru, and Temple Smith of Greenville, SC; six great grandchildren, Madelyn Leonard, Warren Smith, Emerson Gray, Jacob Smith, Miles Gray, and Sofia Smith; and a brother, Paul Finch of Roebuck, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Thomas Phillip Smith. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 25th, 10:00-10:45AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00AM in the Chapel. Burial will be private.
