Bonnie Sue Carney

Bonnie Sue Carney of Spartanburg, SC, widow of Charles E. Carney, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born in Hoboken, GA on December 25, 1945 to the late Margaret O’Berry and Thomas A. Dowling.

A true woman of God, Bonnie dedicated her life to serving others. She was a caregiver with the Charles Lea Center for many years before she decided to become a private home caregiver. Even outside of her career, Bonnie found her greatest joy in helping others and sharing the Word of God with them. She was a dedicated member of Morning Star Baptist Church and often sang gospel duets with her husband, Charles, until his passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Carney Anderson; grandchildren, William “Chuck” Elliott, Dustin Tyler Bishop (Becca Haught), and David Cole Bishop; brother, Evan Dowling (Gail); sisters, Carol King (Terry) and Ouida Biggs (David); brother-in-law, Sonny Carney (Tammy); and sister-in-law, Evelyn Dowling. Along with her parents and husband, Bonnie was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Dowling and Russell Dowling, and sisters, Opal Dowling and Rhoda France (Bucky).

Visitation will be 11:00-11:45am on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 150 Old Spartanburg Highway, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm in the church, conducted by Pastor Michael Rochester. Burial will immediately follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
