Brady Alexander Murphy, lovingly known as “Brady Bear”, of Roebuck, SC tragically passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the age of 18. Brady was born February 5, 2007 in Spartanburg, SC to Bert Murphy and Mitzi Garrett.
Brady was a proud upcoming 2025 graduate of Dorman High School Cavaliers. He was part of the marching band where he played the trombone. Known for his radiant smile and kind heart, Brady had a way of lighting up every room he walked into. His laughter, gentle spirit, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who had the joy of knowing him.
Brady worked at Blue Beacon Truck Wash, where he took pride in his work and being with his co-workers. Outside of work and school, he found joy in the simple things: spending time with his family, being in nature with animals, and on the water fishing at Lake Greenwood and riding his jet ski. Fireworks on July 4th were always a memorable time with his family. He indulged in his favorite snacks like spicy Takis, hot fries, and fiery Ramen noodles. He especially loved sharing those spicy treats, always encouraging others to try them even when they knew they shouldn’t.
He had a soft spot for old country music, ball caps, boots and late-night kitchen adventures. To his loved ones, he wasn’t just Brady-he was Brady Bear, the best hug giver, a tradition started when he was little. Brady was often described as the sweetest, kindest and most polite young man. He had a way of making everyone feel valued. His absence leaves an indescribable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him most.
Brady is survived by his father, Bert Murphy (Rebecca); mother, Mitzi Garrett (Don); brother and friend, Dylan Murphy; and Caroline and Anna Stickels. He also leaves behind his paternal grandmother, Carol Murphy (Lyn West); maternal grandmother, Judy Farmer; maternal grandfather, David Jenkins; aunts, Wendy Knox and Audrey Robinson; cousins, Kayla Knox (Dillon Fowler), Matthew Robinson (Kirsten), Amelia Fowler, Kassidy Robinson, and Kyle Roberts.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Chuck Murphy and Harold Farmer.
