Brian Patrick Meegan

Spartanburg, SC- Brian Patrick Meegan, 23, son of Kevin Daniel and Lisa Symancyk Meegan, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Brian was a graduate of Providence High School in Charlotte, NC and was currently a student of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. He enjoyed Jazz music and played both the guitar and drums. As an avid soccer player, he traveled all over the south with teammates and coaches whom he cherished. Always ready to spend time outside, Brian loved hiking, golf, fishing and perhaps most of all, the opportunity to get on his skateboard. Importantly, he had a deep love for his dogs, Jack, Mitchell and Lottie, who gave him great joy. In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by his brothers, Brendan of Atlanta, GA, Casey and William of Spartanburg, SC; paternal grandmother, Shirley Meegan of Keeseville, NY; uncle, David (Cheryl) Meegan of Sacramento, CA; aunt, Judith (Daniel) Hoey of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Laura Mandell of Norwich, NY; cousins, Patrick (Katie) Hoey, Meaghan (Keenan) Ahern, Tyler Hoey, Lauren Meegan, and Michael Meegan. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the MICU unit at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC for their tireless efforts to save our beloved Brian. Your skill and compassion was inspiring at our most difficult moments. We would also like to thank our family and friends that have shown such an outpouring of love and comfort, there are no words to describe our gratitude. We are grateful to share our lives with you. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 29th, 4:00PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will receive friends following the service. In remembrance of Brian, memorials may be made to The Spartanburg County Foundation, Brian Meegan Fund, 424 E. Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to the charity of one’s choice.
