Carl Wayne Wren

Carl Wayne Wren, husband of Pat Harmon Wren, passed away in the evening on Wednesday December 4, 2024, at White Oak manor in Spartanburg, SC. He was born on May 10, 1947 to the late John and Geraldine Shortridge Wren in Moscow, Idaho.

Carl spent his childhood years mainly in the state of Washington and was a 1965 graduate of Lake Washington High School in Seattle. He served as a missionary in the Cumorah Mission in and around Rochester, NY for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from June 1966 to June 1968. A short time afterward he was drafted into the US Army for service in Vietnam, serving there from November 1969 to September 1970.

On September 30, 1970 he married his eternal companion, Patsy Ann Harmon of Spartanburg, SC, graduating in 1975 from Wofford College with a degree in English. He had an eventful career in sales and marketing in various media markets and hospital systems in South Carolina and in Texas. He diligently served in many church callings during his life, including Elders Quorum President, Branch President, High Councilor, Bishopric Counselor, Mission Presidency Counselor, and Temple ordinance worker. He cherished his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and emphasized the importance of magnifying the Lord’s will for each of us to his children.

In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by one daughter, Monica, of Tallahassee FL, sons Brian (Carrie) of Keller TX, David (Leah) of Spartanburg, and Preston (Jennifer) of Atlanta GA; one brother Bill Wren of Albany, OR, and three sisters: Donna Wren of Woodland CA, Judy Mustard of Davis, CA, and Susan Watkins of Esparto, CA. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 11:30 am before a funeral service at noon on Saturday, December 14 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 121 Quail Dr., Spartanburg, SC. A graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Fernwood-Glendale Rd. will follow the funeral.
