Carolyn Duer Pennell

Carolyn Duer Pennell Spartanburg - Carolyn Duer Pennell of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away June 28, 2018.  Carolyn was a native of Exmore, Virginia, and was the daughter of Maurice James and Alberta Duer.  She was a graduate of St Catherines’ School, Richmond, Virginia, and Converse College, Class of 1950, and a member of Central Methodist Church.  Carolyn was passionate about community service and church support.  She is survived by two children, Richard Hamer Pennell, Jr, and his wife Nancy, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Susan Pennell Towson of Encinitas, California; three grandchildren, Allen Pennell Albergotti (Gaston), Richard Hamer Pennell, III and James Duer Pennell.   Carolyn was predeceased by three brothers, MJ Duer, Jr, Houston Carter Duer and J Grayson Duer.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 11 AM at Central United Methodist Church, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29306.
