Charles Edwin Royals

Charles E. Royals Pauline – Charles Edwin Royals, 95, husband of the late Helen Setzer Royals, died Friday February 8, 2018. He was born on April 12, 1922 to the late James Oscar and Deanie Gunter Royals. Charles faithfully served his country in the US Navy during WWII, serving on the USS Parrott and the USS Seattle.  He was employed with Service Oil Company for over 20 years. Charles retired after 20 plus years working with the Philadelphia Phillies/ Spartanburg Phillies Minor league baseball team. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia R. Coward (Roy) of Pauline; sister, Shirley M. Gage of Pauline; two grandchildren, Pamela B. Roberts, Kimberly B. Sutherland (Steve); three great-grandchildren, Brooks Gibson, Ashton Twitty (Josh), Jacob Sutherland; and a great-great-granddaughter, Stephanie Twitty. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel officiated Rev. Richard Thomas. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House; 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
