Christina Kay Lawhun, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was born on December 1, 1975, in Galion, Ohio, to Bill Compton and Judith Williams Kinney. Christina's life was a beautiful tapestry woven from her love for family, her passion for hard work, and her vibrant spirit.
Growing up in Galion, Christina was a bright and determined young woman. She graduated from Galion High School in 1994, where she developed a penchant for hard work and dedication. This drive led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, a field she was passionate about and which underscored her commitment to health and well-being.
Christina was not only a dedicated student but also a devoted employee. She was the owner and operator of a commercial cleaning business, Maid in Time, where her meticulous nature shone through. Her professionalism and strong work ethic were admired by many, but her greatest joy came from her role as a mother.
A loving wife to Brandon Lawhun, Christina was the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Kaylee Steele and Leah Lawhun. All she ever wanted was to be a mom, and she cherished every moment spent with her girls. Christina instilled in them the values of hard work, dedication, and above all, the importance of family. She was also known for her deep love for her grandmother, Joann Williams, a bond that significantly shaped her life and character.
Christina's warm heart extended beyond her immediate family. She is survived by her father, Bill Compton, her mother, Judy Williams Kinney, and her siblings, Jason Compton (Julianna), Heather Compton, and Brittany Bodkin (Kyle), and her grandchildren Emma and Olivia Steele. Christina was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Jack and Joann Williams, and Clyde and Mary Compton.
An avid runner, Christina found joy and pride in participating in events like the Flying Pig Race, which was a significant accomplishment for her. Her hobbies reflected her diverse interests; she was a passionate Ohio State football fan and loved taking Disney cruises, which brought her great happiness alongside her treasured animals—Stella, Piper, Jazzy, and Bean. Christina often described the beach as her happy place, where she could unwind and connect with the beauty of nature.
Christina's legacy is one of love, determination, and joy. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine through the lives of her family and friends. In honoring her memory, let us celebrate her dedication to family, the love she shared, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
As we say goodbye to Christina, let us hold onto the lessons she taught us about valuing family, working hard, and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Christina's name to a charity that supports health and education for children, reflecting her lifelong commitment to nurturing and caring for others.
