Christopher Yates Parris

Spartanburg, SC- Christopher Yates Parris, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Smith Phayer Home in Landrum, SC. Born November 22, 1944 in Mapleton, Iowa, he was the son of the late Christopher Yates Parris, Sr. and Mary Margaret Myers Parris. Mr. Parris began a long and rewarding career with Southern Bell, later BellSouth, and now AT&T, and retired after more than 40 years of service. He also volunteered much of his time to develop and head the Spartanburg Junior Golf Association. He is survived by his children, Lisa Brewer (Michael) of Spartanburg, SC, Jeremy Parris (Giada) of Greer, SC, and Laura Grandy (Benjamin) of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, and Evan Brewer, Giuliana and Peyton Parris, and Jack Grandy; his brother, Keith R. Parris (Jan); a niece, Li Clapp; and nephew, Michael Clapp. Mr. Parris was predeceased by a son, Christopher Yates Parris, III; and two sisters. The family wishes to express their thanks for the dedicated staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills at the Smith Phayer House for their care and support.
