Chesnee, SC- Dale Arthur Willenberg, 57, of Chesnee, died Friday, June 30, 2017. He was an avid cyclist for nearly 20 years and was continuing his passion at the time of his death. Dale worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at Spartanburg Regional and served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Major. While in the National Guard early in his career, he was in a Special Forces Unit as a Green Beret. After receiving a nursing degree and becoming a commissioned officer, Dale’s tours of duty included Fort Sam Houston, Fort Sill, Fort Knox, Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Carson and Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. After separation from the Army, he lived in Columbia, Tennessee, where he worked at Maury Regional Hospital for 15 years. Dale and his wife, Kelly, moved to Spartanburg ten years ago and are members of Joy Lutheran Church of Moore. Dale enjoyed his bicycle riding, spending time with family, hiking, traveling and playing guitar. He is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Kelly M. Willenberg of Chesnee; twin daughters, Mariel D. Norton (Dr. Duncan Norton) of Columbia, SC and Brandy E. Troisi (Chris Troisi) of Moore, SC; granddaughter, Brenna and expectant granddaughter, Baby T; grand dogs, Tiger and Dixie; his mother, Roberta Willenberg of Madison, AL; sisters, Jean Clark (Rick Clark) of Madison, AL, Diane Garber (Al Garber) of Madison, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews across the Southeast. A celebration of life will be Saturday, July 8th at Joy Lutheran Church, 3980 Moore Duncan Hwy, Moore, SC 29369. Visitation will start at 3:00 PM and the Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 PM.
